About Filtertech

Filter Tech was established in 1991, and over the years has expanded it’s initial focus from providing custom filters for industrial air-conditioners to include importing standard filters, providing a wide range of primary, secondary and HEPA filters and filtration systems.

The filters are can be manufactured on-site or ordered in to their warehouse in Australia as complete items from overseas manufacturers. Filter Tech also fit, test and service existing air-conditioner and extraction systems.

Business Challenges & Needs

FilterTech’s original inventory software was not fulfilling the needs of the business from a costing standpoint, this would cause headaches as they had to find a way to work around the software, instead of having it work for them.

The business was heavily reliant on certain staff members retaining all the information regarding pricing for certain customers and freight costs. FilterTech needed to have a main database to consolidate all of this information so all members of staff could access it when they needed it.

We now have the ability to process a sales order for any customer without having to double check discounts or freight costs with other staff members.

The Solution

The business made the decision to replace their existing inventory management solution and MYOB that was originally set as their accounting software package. It was replaced with the combination of Fishbowl Inventory (Manufacturing Edition) and Reckon Accounts (formerly QuickBooks).

The Results

FilterTech saw the benefits immediately when they switched over to the inventory management and accounting solution of Fishbowl Inventory and Reckon Accounts. They found they had the ability to process a sales order without having to double check discounts for specific customers or the freight costs for items with other members of staff in the company. The company also found that the ability to set specific freight carriers for each of their customers improved their work process, saving time and confusion. The biggest time-saver for FilterTech was Fishbowl Inventory’s ability to set customers into groups and then applying a pricing rule or discount to these specific groups.
